July '18 Update

The book has been out for just over a month and I couldn't be happier with all of the support I've had from friends and family alike. I've had nearly 200 copies either sold or downloaded, and it has been read multiple times on KindleUnlimited, which is a huge accomplishment considering how little I've actually advertised and marketed. All of my time went to into actually making the book and focusing on graduate school--which, if you don't know me, is in an area completely separate from literature and writing.

I still have a year left of graduate school, so progress on book two will be much slower than the first. December 2019 is probably the earliest possible, though it'll likely be later. So far I have 7 chapters drafted and another about a quarter of the way through. My current estimate is that the book will be about 40 chapters and roughly 500+ pages (versus 23 chapters and 412 pages in TKG) because, simply put, the world is a lot bigger in the second book. Unlike TKG, it will cover multiple storylines via various points of view. Ben will still have the majority of the chapters, but other characters will share a significant amount of storytelling as well. I don't want to give too much away, especially if you haven't read TKG just yet, but the basic plot of book two revolves around war, a race for new Vaults, and the investigation of a mystery that is set up by the end of TKG. As I get further along with my writing I plan to post a draft chapter on the site from time to time.

Book Two is tentatively titled: The Scorched Earth.

Book 3 Excerpt

After a near-sleepless night, he needed something to keep his eyes open. Coffee every morning hardly counted, and it was such an inefficient manner of keeping oneself awake. Gerald searched through the medicine cabinet. He swiped his finger across the screen, waiting for the display to load the available drugs. Looked like he still had enough credits to purchase a psychostimulant. Not one of those dangerous street varieties that would throw him into a homicidal rage. Thankfully, he and Deanna held good jobs. They had access to top-of-the-line medications without an appointment. In fact, he hadn’t seen a doctor in person in years now. He picked out a longer-acting drug that wouldn’t give him such a crash after. He still had to take care of Kyle. The glass screen slid open and dispensed a single sealed tablet. Gerald swallowed the pill with a sip of coffee and felt the weight of insomnia lift from his shoulders.  “…anniversary of the twentieth, and final, GeneHome mission to Mars,” the n
